Bone Grafting for Dental Implants Gaithersburg MD

Do I have enough bone for dental implants?

After tooth extraction, if the walls of the socket are very thick, they will usually fill naturally with bone in two to three months. However, when the walls of your socket are very thin (such as in your upper and lower front teeth), this type of healing will not be as predictable.

In these situations, a bone graft is often placed at the time of tooth extraction to help your body fill in the empty socket with bone. This step will maintain the width and volume of bone you will need for dental implant placement several months later.

There may be inadequate bone for dental implant placement if your tooth was removed many years ago and your bony ridge is extremely thin. In this case, a bone graft can be placed next to the thin bone and allowed to heal for up to six months.

After the graft has fused to your pre-existing bone, the ridge will be re-entered and the implant placed. Bone grafting is usually a relatively comfortable office procedure. Many different bone-grafting materials are available, including your own bone.

You may also need bone grafting if the sinus cavities in your upper jaw are very large, or very low, and extend into the tooth-bearing areas. This often occurs when teeth in the back of a person’s upper jaw have been removed many years before, and the amount of bone available for implant placement is limited.

A “sinus grafting procedure” is then required. Most often, it is performed in the office with local anesthesia and perhaps sedation. During this procedure, the membrane that lines the sinus will be located and elevated.

Bone will then be added to restore the bone height and ensure that dental implants of an adequate length can be placed. This procedure often can be performed at the time of implant placement.

I don't believe anyone relishes going to an appointment regarding their teeth and oral health, as a matter of fact, it can rate right up there with death and taxes. The Dr.Peter Hadeed office and dental experience is beyond measure in it's efficiency, organization, knowledge, skill, openness, levity and kindness. The staff ensured and arranged every detail to safeguard and protect my needs and concerns. Dr Peter and Tracie Hadeed spent as much and more time than was required to instruct and inform me of my oral condition. I have not experienced this degree and excellence in the medical/dental world. It is rare for one's doctor to not only spend whatever time is needed but also possess the highest regard in listening skills and instruction. I have deep gratitude for their care in creating a safe, protected environment with levity in my journey of self care.

I have had extensive periodontal work done by Dr. Hadeed. Each procedure was done with the utmost skill and patience to assure the best long term outcome for me. Dr. Hadeed went the second mile--not just fixing symptoms but getting to the root of my issues and tackling each one individually. He made sure that I experienced no pain throughout the procedures. Dr. Hadeed and Tracie work so well together and made me feel very comfortable every step of the way. Their follow-up care is amazing as they contacted me numerous times to find out how I was doing post-procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Hadeed and his team.

After an old root canal got infected, I began searching for an oral surgeon. In the following months I consulted a few surgeons and never really felt comfortable. Then I met Dr. Hadeed and his wife/assistant Tracie, My positive first impressions proved out. I met Dr. Hadeed and Tracie on a Wednesday at my Dentist's office, Dr. Greenbaum. I felt confident enough to have the extensive surgery two days later. I don't think it's possible to have made me any more comfortable during the surgery. Dr. Hadeed and Tracie kept me in great spirits during the operation, showing warmth and empathy. In the following days, Dr Hadeed and Tracie stayed in frequent contact with me to make sure I was okay and that I was following post operative instructions. It's been five days and I saw Dr. Hadeed today. All looks great I'm having no pain. I'm looking forward to getting the implant in a few months.

Dr. Hadeed is my general dentist’s own periodontist. The doctor that the doctor trusts must be good, right? No, he is superb. Dr. Hadeed and his assistant Tracie did a great job of surgical extraction, and bone grafting for me. I am very happy about the result and would definitely recommend Dr. Hadeed.

Who likes to have teeth extractions and bone graft? No one. However, Dr. Hadeed and Tracy made it experience. They are professional, friendly, and through. They go above and beyond to ensure comfort and address any and all concerns. I had bad experience with my last dentist and overall have never enjoyed the dentist but Dr. Hadeed has changed that. The work he did was exceptional and the environment is relaxing. I feel my dental health is in very good hand. They have helped me a lot and I will be grateful!

Dr. Hadeed and his staff have changed how I perceive dentists for the better. Going to the dentist is never easy especially for someone like myself who has anxiety, but Hadeed and Tracie have made my visits very comfortable from the moment I walked in to get my initial x-rays. He stayed with me every step of the way, making sure to fully explain every option and keeping in contact with me while I recovered. Initially I came in to get an x-ray and consultation on one of my wisdom teeth. It was ultimately decided molar, tooth #18 was to be extracted and to have a bone graft in its place. The thought of surgery - let alone awake - is very daunting, but every few minutes Dr. Hadeed and Tracie would take a break and see how I was doing. My own dentist Dr. Nargess who referred me to Dr. Hadeed stayed with me through my operation as well and even held my hand in times of extreme anxiety. Removing the tooth caused some discomfort due to the pressure and feeling of pulling (my face was entirely numb otherwise with anesthetic) but they all did their best to reassure me and make me feel at home. The doctor's unique sense of humor and the combined compassion of Dr. Nargess and Tracie helped alleviate my fears. Following the doctor's throughout post-care orders my recovery has been much smoother than I expected! He was open to all my questions and texted me even when it was late at night to see how I was. I have never before experienced such a wonderful, positive staff before! I would recommend this staff to anyone seeking top of the line care.
